What is the status of the UUSO
Adult Scouters Award?
 | The Adult Scouters award is under consideration; it will likely
follow the Cub Scout award. |

Are the UUSO religious emblems endorsed by the
Boy Scouts of America?
 | Yes they are! UUSO has a written agreement from BSA supporting its
religious emblems program. UUSO has a "Memorandum of Mutual Support"
with BSA from February 2004 stating in part that BSA and UUSO "will
work with each other within the rules and regulations of the Boy
Scouts of America to establish and nurture Scout units as an
expression of the mission of the Unitarian Universalist Scouts
Organization, Inc. and to administer a religious emblems program for
Unitarian youth and adults so that they may grow in character,
citizenship, responsibility, and with the personal fitness necessary
to achieve their greatest potential." A copy of this Memorandum
may be viewed by clicking here. A similar
Memorandum is issued to each faith group that has a religious emblems
program endorsed by BSA.
The UUSO religious emblems have undergone BSA's review and approval
process. Each UUSO emblem workbook is individually reviewed and
approved by the BSA Religious Relationships Committee and the BSA
Literature Review Committee before it is posted on the UUSO web site.
Therefore, these emblems are recognized for authorized wearing of the
UUSO religious award medal and the BSA religious award square knot on
the scout uniform.
